The Daihatsu Brand

One of the oldest surviving Japanese internal combustion engine manufacturers, Daihatsu was formed in 1951. The brand only started to export its range to Europe during the ‘60s and later during the decade in 1967 Toyota became a major shareholder of the Daihatsu brand. However, in 2016 the brand became a wholly owned subsidiary of the Toyota Motor Corporation.

The Daihatsu brand is mostly known for its kei vehicles and off-road models.
